UK territory in the Caribbean, Montserrat, is going to hold a public meeting today that will provide details on the proposed geothermal project on the island and expected progress on recently held tender.

As part of this year’s GRC Annual Meeting and the GEA Geothermal Expo I had the chance talking to some of the people involved in making geothermal energy development a reality in the Caribbean island state of Montserrat, a UK territory. There are still no official news on who won the tender hold on exploratory drilling on the island.

Montserrat is going to hold a public meeting today that will likely reveal who won the tender and when the island will see the project to move forward.

The island has opened the tender for site preparation works for the two wells to be drilled in the Cork Hill area, part of the island’s exclusion zone imposed following the devastating volcanic eruption in 1995.

The environmental and social impact assessment for the project is to be delivered by Barbados-based Atom Solutions.

News on the tender on the project will be posted as soon as they are available.
