Drilling to start for 45 MW Cisolok project in Indonesia
Developer PT Jabar Rekind Geothermal, a subsidiary of PT Jasa Sarana, has announced it will start drilling at its 45 MW geothermal project in Cisolok and Cisukarame in Indonesia next month.
Reported earlier this week, PT Jasa Sarana announces being ready to start exploration work in Cisolok and Cisukarame, Sukabumi next month.
According to the President Director of PT Jasa Sarana, Soko Buwono, the project undertaken by PT Jabar Rekind geothermal (JRG), a subsidiary of PT Jasa Sarana, can progress after the results of rig tests were successfully conducted with its partners. JRG is to drill two wells out of 12 wells, which are planned under a contract with EMR. Soko targets to drill 12 wells in Cisolok and Sukarame that could generate 45 MW of electricity.
“Although the potential is expected to reach 140 MW. Two of these wells estimated 10-12 MW but this will depending on the drilling results. ” he said.
Drilling is expected to go to a depth of 2,000 meters and take about 35-40 days, allowing the drilling of 12 wells within the next 12 months in an area of about 15.5 hectares.
Initially the company planned to start drilling in the end of 2015, but now expects drilling to start in Cisolok in September 2016. This is due to an earlier contracted rig not corresponding to the company’s expectations and needed to be re-evaluated with new technology by ITB. This was due to directional drilling required for the project
The project has been in development since 2009 and PT JRG by Soko has spent about Rp 140 billion ($9.5 million) for the access road and Rp 40 billion ($2.7 million) for the survey.
The overall investment volume is estimated at $200 million and target COD is in the first half of 2020.
“After the drilling of two wells is completed, results will be used as the basis for negotiations with the EMR. Now the charge is still a long $ 6.8 cents per kWh, “he said.
