Germany proposes feed-in-tariff increase of up to $0.38/ kWh

Germany looks at increasing its feed-in-tariff from around $0.30 to up to $0.40/kWh in a proposed revision to its Renewable Energy Act and Feed-in-Tariff for renewables.
The German government has through its Renewable Energy Act created a feed-in-tariff for renewables. In a revision in 2009, the geothermal tariffs were increased and categorized into two categories for plants larger and smaller of 10 MW.
But there are now substantial bonuses being discussed in a new draft revision for either a timely construction and start of operation before 2016 of around 6 US cents, an additional bonus of 4 cents/ KWh for additional district heating system installed and a 5.6 cents bonus for EGS technology being applied.
So while German development, at least in the capacity having come online, hasn´t been big in comparison to other nations, it still sees a lively industry that strives to develop geothermal projects in the country.
So for the now proposed new tariffs, Germany would put its Feed-in-tariff on par with France and Switzerland, where existing tariffs range from $.30/ kWh to $0.40/ kWh (EUR 0.20-0.30/ kWh).
