IFC and IGA invite to a workshop on the Launch of Geothermal Exploration Best Practices on March 27, 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey.
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, and the service arm of the International Geothermal Association (IGA), are hosting a geothermal workshop, Launch of Geothermal Exploration Best Practices, on March 27, 2013, in Istanbul, Turkey. The event will bring together leaders of the geothermal industry from industrialized economies and emerging markets to exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices. Invited attendees and speakers include private-sector geothermal developers, service providers, and contractors, as well as local, international, and multilateral financial institutions.
The workshop will launch a Guide to Geothermal Exploration Best Practices developed by IFC and the IGA with leading industry experts. The workshop will provide in-depth training on topics covered in the Guide, including the stages of geothermal exploration, the process of collecting, collating, analyzing, and modeling resource data, and the best methods for presenting results to investors. The workshop will also discuss geothermal project financing, including the risks particular to geothermal and ways to mitigate these risks, both through project processes and financial structuring. When implemented, these best practices significantly reduce risk.
