Large scale tomato greenhouse being developed in Tuscany

A new project in Tuscany/ Italy is starting work on the construction of geothermally heated greenhouses for the production of tomatoes, with support by local institutions and Enel Green Power.
At Carboli in Tuscany, Italy, a new project is developing a 13,000 square meter greenhouse operation that will be utilising geothermal heating.
The project is located in the municipality of Monterotondo Marittimo, in the region of Carboli and is developed by two private developers with the support of local institutions and Enel Green Power.
Presented to the local public and media, the project is aimed at local business development and increasing jobs in the region with the use of geothermal energy.
The companies plan to start operation of the greenhouses in 2017 and will cultivate the growth of tomatoes utilising geothermal heating.
A Carboli, therefore, will be born a high-tech farm that aims to cultivate quality, low environmental impact of a major consumer product in Italy and in the world. The construction of the plant will begin in September and completion scheduled for March 2017.
