U.S. DOE Geothermal Technologies Program Annual Report 2012
The Geothermal Technologies Program of the U.S. Department of Energy provides an overview on its 2012 activities in its 2012 Annual Report published recently.
In its first Annual Report in many years, the Geothermal Technologies Program of the U.S. Department of Energy provides an overview on its work on research and development portfolio of over 200 projects.
In the report the office provides “a round-up of the Office’s key activities and accomplishments spanning the fiscal year.”
The program “looks forward to successful deployment of several binary units into working oil and gas field operations, to better illustrate the technical and operating conditions where this is economically attractive. We expect to see groundbreaking for the first lithiumfrom-geothermal plant in California; more exciting results in our EGS demos and R&D; initial output from the geothermal play fairway analysis; and major progress on our EGS test project initiative, which will be the key program component in making EGS a large-scale reality. Since these successes will rely on your collective efforts, I look forward to a fun, collaborative, and productive 2013 working with you.”
