UN Green Climate Fund nearing funding goal
Reuters details that the informal target is set for the UN Green Climate Fund at $10 billion and it will be used to encourage developing economies to reduce carbon emissions.
The latest news details that the G20 members will be committing more money for the UN Green Climate Fund, according to Reuters.
The current country donors have provided funds that “raises the total promised to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to $7.5 billion, including up to $3 billion by U.S. President Barack Obama on Saturday.”
The informal target is set at $10 billion and it will be used to encourage developing economies to reduce carbon emissions and attain a “global climate agreement”.
The final amount has yet to be decided since there are countries like Britain, Italy, Canada and Australia that have not yet made public how much will they pledge.
